Q: What advice would you give to young kids?
A: "I would tell them, especially if they're going to college, to be patient.
Don't expect your first year to go out here and take somebody's position who has
been here and worked hard. Your time will come and patience is really a virtue
like they say.
If you have an opportunity to graduate you want to stay in school and get your
degree. Maybe you get drafted, but you will still have a degree that says I graduated
from the University of Miami."

Nation's Best Interior Lineman
Bryant McKinnie, the impenetrable one, hardly moved when his name was announced
as the 56th winner of the Outland Trophy. ``I wasn't sure I was going to win it,''
Miami's mammoth offensive tackle said. ``You could see I sat there a little bit.
I leaned over to my mom and said, `Did they really say...

Player of the Year
Anyone who has watched the Hurricanes play can attest to McKinnie's importance
to an offense that has scored a school-record 475 points this season and averaged
over 200 yards per game both rushing (204.6) and passing (250.2). QB Ken Dorsey
and RB Clinton Portis' jobs are made easier when they've got a 6-foot-9, 330-pound
giant in front of them who has yet to allow a sack in two seasons with the 'Canes...
