March 16, 2009
Murielle Ahoure, who claimed the 200-meter title and finished fifth in the 60-meter event at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend, has been selected as the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 15.
With a time of 22.80 seconds, Ahoure won Miami's fifth indoor national title and 12th overall at the Meet Friday The senior from Bristow, Va. was one one-hundredth of a second away from tying Lauryn Williams' school record of 22.79 seconds. With her new career-best time, Ahoure once again owns the World's fastest time this season in the 200 meters. Ahoure came back Saturday to run a time of 7.27 seconds in the 60-meter dash and finish fifth. In doing so, she become just the second Hurricanes performer (Lauryn Williams is the other) to earn All-American honors in the event.
