Missed the majority of his two seasons at Miami rehabilitating from Tommy John elbow surgery...saw action in seven games (12.1 innings) during the 1999 season...came to UM prior to the 1998 season as a heralded left-hand pitching prospect from Manatee Community College/Satellite High School...prior to his injury, had an above average change-up, curve-ball and fastball...used a redshirt for the '98 season recovering from elbow surgery...drafted in the 50th round by the Houston Astros out of high school in the 1995 Major League Draft.

AS A JUNIOR IN 1998
Saw action in seven games out of the bullpen...totaled 12.1 innings with 13 strikeouts...had a 9.5 per game strikeout average...first UM appearance came at Florida on Feb. 7...gave up zero runs and struck out four in a combined 3.1 innings of work in two appearances against James Madison...allowed just one hit in those two games against the Dukes, while lowering his ERA to 2.08... pitched 2.2 innings and recorded the UM victory in a 14-11 win over Texas... in the game with the Longhorns, struck out four and walked two, but gave up four earned runs...saw a season-long 3.1 innings of work against East Carolina...allowed four hits against the Pirates, but only one earned run and two strikeouts...pitched one strong inning against Iowa, striking out one and allowing one hit...in his final appearance of the season against N.C. State, allowed three runs on four hits with one strikeout.

MANATEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Coached by Tim Hill. Sophomore Year, 1997: Went 6-1 with a 1.90 ERA...had six no-decisions...hit .380 as team's designated hitter...played in Florida Junior College All-Star game... team captain...team finished third in state...spent summer fine tuning game at the Bolletieri Sports Academy. Freshman Year, 1996: First-team Junior College All-American...Florida JUCO Player of the Year...was 12-3 with a 1.85 ERA...played DH hitting .431.
