Named to the 1999 NCBWA Super Team (second team)...was selected to the 1999 College World Series All-Tournament team...named to the All-Tournament team at the BELLSOUTH/Hurricane Diamond Classic...started all 49 games he appeared in...saw the majority of the season in right field... also played 18 games in left field...team went 22-2 when playing right field...finished among the team's top five in nearly every statistical category...finished second on the team in on-base percentage (.462), sacrifice bunts (5) and sacrifice flies (4)...placed third in slugging percentage (.636) and RBI (54)...had the fourth highest batting average (.364), runs scored (49), hits (63), home runs (12) and walks (31)...had 18 multiple hit games...had a season-best four-hit performance against Georgia...had 16 multiple RBI games...tied for the team-high with a 14-game hit streak (2/19-3/19)...in four games against Florida, batted .500 (8-of-16), drove in seven runs, scored four runs, hit three triples, one home run and struck out just once...in the final game of the Texas series (2/28), went 3-of-5 from the plate with four RBI and three runs scored...his hits in that game against the Longhorns were one double and two home runs ...drove in two runs and scored twice in a 9-4 win over Florida State (4/24)...led the team in walks (9) during the postseason and placed second with 10 runs scored. At 1999 Coral Gables Regional: Started all three games...had his best game against FIU, scoring two runs...defensively, had put-outs in each of his six chances. Named Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball...selected as a second-team freshman All-American by The Sporting News...appeared in 60 games, including 56 starts at second base...batted .348 with 63 RBI and 16 home runs...
had streak of four straight games with a home run (4/4-11)...hit game-winning, three-run home run in the top of the 10th propelling UM to a road sweep over FSU...in six-game season series vs. FSU, hit four home runs with 12 RBI and a 1.000 slugging percentage...has hit two grand slams (2/15 at Florida, 2/22 vs. Notre Dame)...set a school record and tied an NCAA record with two triples in one inning vs. Illinois (3/6)...also tied a record for grand slams in an inning (2)...named MVP of the BELLSOUTH/ Hurricane Diamond Classic. At 1998 Atlantic I Regional: Started all five games at second...went 5-for-19 (.263) with two home runs and 12 RBI...went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored vs. South Carolina. At 1998 College World Series: Started at second base in each of UM's three games.
