Finished the last portion of the schedule as the team's closer...made a successful transition from set-up to closer...started six games...had a team-best 2.79 ERA...opponents batted .244 against him...had the second-most appearances (29) and games in relief (23)...fourth on the team with four wins...fourth with 71.0 innings pitched and fifth with 61 strikeouts...earned his first win of the season against Barry with career-highs in innings pitched (6.0) and strikeouts (9)...earned the win in a surprise start at FIU, going 6.1 innings with five hits, two runs, one earned, two walks and eight strikeouts...pitched a career-high 7.1 strong innings in relief in a 17-inning loss in game #1 at Florida State...was perfect against Florida State in the Coral Gables series, pitching a total of 2.1 innings over three games with no hits, runs or walks with two strikeouts...earned his first save of the season in game #1 against Long Beach State...held Long Beach State with out an earned run over 3.2 combined innings over two games...had three strikeouts in 1.1 innings of game #2 against Georgia Tech for the win...earned a save in game #3 against Georgia Tech closing out the ninth. As a Sophomore in 1999
Made three appearances on the mound, recording a 2-1 record and a 3.48 ERA...in his season-debut at Notre Dame, took a loss after going 4.1 innings and only giving up one run...had four strikeouts against the Irish, gave up six hits and one walk...earned his first win in 1.1 innings of work against Winthrop. At the 1999 Coral Gables Regional: Earned his first postseason win in his lone appearance against Bethune-Cookman...saw a season-best 4.2 innings of action against the Wildcats, giving up three runs on five hits and struck out three...lengthy appearance helped to keep the UM bullpen healthy for the remainder of the regional.
As a Freshman in 1998
Made 16 appearances (20.0 innings) all in relief...did not give up a run in 12 of his 16 appearances...was perfect in four appearances...displayed excellent control walking just five batters and not throwing a wild pitch. At 1998 Atlantic I Regional: Made two appearances in relief...earned a save in opener vs. Bowling Green, recording three strikeouts in three perfect innings of work.
