Danny Figueroa is considered by the Hurricane coaching staff to quite possibly be the best centerfielder to ever play at Miami ... he was the catalyst at the top Miami's lineup as a sophomore in 2003, but missed the entire 2004 season with elbow and shoulder injuries ... started 62 of the Hurricanes 63 games as a sophomore ... led UM in runs scored (74), on-base percentage (.460) and stolen bases (40) in 2003 while hitting .325 with 77 hits, three home runs and 28 RBI ... started 55 of 58 games he appeared in as a freshman ... all 117 of his starts have come in centerfield ... along with his twin brother, Paco, was named the team's 2002 Rookies of the Year ... drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 48th round of the 2001 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft and then selected in the 40th round of the 2004 draft after not playing the entire season ... was a two-time Miami Herald First-Team All-State pick ... was selected to play for Team USA in the summer of 2003 ... a return to his 2003 form should vault him into immediate contention for All-America and All-ACC honors.
