AS A SOPHOMORE IN 1998
Spent the entire year as Miami's starting catcher appearing in 55 games
including 54 starts...recorded a hit in 19 of the last 27 games of the
season.hit nine home runs following his freshman campaing when he did not
hit a single home run. In Regular Season: Had an eight-game hit streak
(4/5-24) and a stretch of five straight two-hit games (4/5-4/17)...improved
his batting average 67 points from March 22 (.247 to the end of the season)...registered
the first multiple home run game of his career at Georgia Tech (4/26)...hit
five home runs in the last 16 games of the regular season. At 1998 Atlantic
I Regional: Started all five games at catcher...On May 23rd, went 2-for-4
with a home run and two RBI vs. South Carolina and was 3-for-3 with an
RBI vs. Texas Tech. At 1998 College World Series: Led team with .444 average
going 4-9 with one run scored, one wallk and two hit-by-pitch...reached
base seven times for a team-leading .583 on-base percentage...went 3-4,
all singles, in Miami's 3-1 opening win over Long Beach State (5/29)...scored
a run, drew a walk and was twice hit-by-pitch in going 0-1 vs. Arizona
State (5/31)...hit a single in second meeting with Long Beach State (6/2).
AS A FRESHMAN IN 1997
Saw action in 23 games including five starts...went two-for-five with
a RBI in first collegiate game vs. Hawaii (1/18)...was 2-4 against Harvard
(3/29)...recorded first career steal in Miami's regular season finale against
Oral Roberts (5/17). At 1997 Atlantic Regional: Played in two
games as a reserve catcher...was 0-1 in one plate appearance. At
1997 College World Series: Made appearance in Miami's 7-3 win over UCLA
(5/31) as pinch hitter.

Senior Year, 1996: named first-team All-State...honorable mention USA Today
All-USA...recognized as Scottsdale (AZ) Player of the Year...most valuable
