After only serving as a reliever in 2008, could start games in 2009 ... Was the only Hurricane to play both ways in 2008, logging 11.1 innings on the mound while also recording 12 at-bats ... Owns team's lowest career ERA (1.59 in 11.1 career innings).
FRESHMAN SEASON - 2008
•Made 11 appearances on the mound, all in relief
•Led the team with a 1.59 ERA (2 ER in 11.1 IP)
•Struck out 15 batters (1.3 per inning) and held opponents to a .190 batting average against him
•After appearing in 10 games from March 2 to April 5, did not make an appearance on the mound until UM's final game versus Stanford (6/18)
•Had 14 plate appearances, tallying three hits and two walks
•Recorded first career hit as a Hurricane at FIU (4/2)
•His lone RBI of the season came off a sacrifice fly against FAU (4/1)
•Did not allow a run in his first seven appereances, finally giving up his first earned run on March 26 against Bethune-Cookman
PREP CAREER
•Played for Ed Doskaw at Southridge High School
•Named a Playstation All-American and a Second Team ABCA/Rawlings High School All-American as a senior in 2007
•Also a 6A-5A All Miami-Dade County First Team selection as a senior
•Hit .490 with four home runs and 48 RBI in 2007
•Participant in the 2006 USA Junior National Team Trials
