Sophomore pitcher Iden Nazario and junior second baseman Scott Lawson have been named co-winners of the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 29.
Nazario improved his record to 3-0 on the season allowing two earned runs and striking out a career high 10 batters in the Hurricanes 6-2 victory over Georgia Tech at Alex Rodriguez Park on Sunday, the 29th. Lawson, a junior college transfer from Grayson Community College in Texas, hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning to break open a 2-2 tie and put Miami ahead 5-2. He also reached base twice in the game on walks.
The second ranked Hurricanes return to action by hosting Barry Wednesday, April 1 at 6pm and continue their homestand with a three-game set against Florida State on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (April 3-5). On Saturday the fourth, a special ceremony will be held to recognize the 10-year anniversary of the 1999 team that won the College World Series.
