CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Three weeks into fall practice, the University of Miami baseball team is set to play its Third Annual Orange-Green Fall World Series next week at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. The best-of-three intrasquad scrimmage series begins on Monday, Nov. 9, followed by game two on Wednesday, Nov. 11 and game three on Friday, Nov. 13.

Each squad features a pair of All-ACC performers in Chris Hernandez and Yasmani Grandal for the Orange team and Eric Erickson and Scott Lawson for the Green team. Tentative starters for the series opener on Monday are Daniel Miranda for the Green team and Hernandez for the Orange squad.

Games will be played during the team's normal practice time, with first pitches slated for 3 p.m. each afternoon. Admission is free to the public. Friday's game will be played regardless of whether the series has been decided.

This year's Orange-Green Fall World Series marks the third time the Hurricanes have held the best-of-three fall series under UM head coach Jim Morris. Orange has won the first two Orange-Green Fall Series in 2007 and 2008. Last year, Scott Lawson, Harold Martinez and Ryan Perry each had a homer in the series. Nathan Melendres led the Orange team in the 2008 title game, going 3-for-4 with a pair of triples, a stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored.

Following this year's series, the Hurricanes will close out their 2009 fall season the following weekend with the team's Pro Scout day at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Alex Rodriguez Park.
