CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team will take on Florida Memorial in its first exhibition game of the 2008-09 season on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 5:30 p.m. at the BankUnited Center.

The 5:30 p.m. start time allows Hurricane fans to catch the telecast of the Miami at Virginia football game that will be broadcast by Raycom at noon.

The game versus Florida Memorial will be the first of two exhibition contests hosted by Miami.  The Hurricanes will also host a basketball doubleheader at the BankUnited Center on Nov. 8, with the women facing Barry in exhibition action at 3 p.m., followed by the men versus Barry at 5:30 p.m.

Fifth-year head coach Frank Haith and his veteran basketball squad looks to build on the success from their 2007-08 season in which the Hurricanes finished 23-11 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Hurricanes open the regular season at home versus Florida Southern on Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
