Considered the second-best receiver in Louisiana out of high school. As a senior in 2007, caught 50 passes for 630 yards and 13 touchdowns. Also played some safety, making three interceptions, in leading his team to a 10-3 record. As a junior in 2006, made 30 receptions for 447 yards and eight touchdowns. Played primarily defensive back as a freshman and sophomore. Also a standout basketball player, averaging more than 20 points per game as a junior. Chose Miami over Nebraska, Auburn, Mississippi State and Tulane. Coached by Lou Valdin. Ranked the No. 16 player in Louisiana and the No. 60 wide receiver in the nation by Rivals.com. Rated as the No. 69 wide receiver by Scout.com.
