2000 (SENIOR): Named the winner of Miami's Dale Melching Leadership Award, presented annually to the team's top leader as voted by the coaching staff . . . Returned from off-season shoulder surgery to provide Miami with an experienced, steady receiver behind starters Reggie Wayne and Santana Moss . . . Was a consistent producer throughout the season, catching 11 passes for 151 yards and one touchdown . . . Also provided excellent blocking downfield and on special teams . . . Garnered two starting assignments (vs. McNeese State and Syracuse) when the Hurricanes began games with three-receiver sets . . . Had a catch in 10 of Miami's 11 games this season . . . 1999 (JUNIOR): Led the team in kickoff returns (9) and return yardage (154)…fourth on the team in receptions (20) and receiving yards (220)…was the starting kick returner for nine games…had his best game of the season at Florida State, when he racked up five catches for 78 yards…recorded three receptions for 19 yards at Boston College in the greatest comeback in UM history…pulled in four passes for 31 yards and a touchdown at Virginia Tech…also recorded a special teams tackle at Virginia Tech…had multiple receptions against Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Temple…tallied catches against Penn State and West Virginia…had four receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown vs. Georgia Tech in the Gator Bowl victory.
1998 (SOPHOMORE): Third on the team in receptions (28) and receiving yards (397)…the only Hurricane with a catch in every game…started last two games in place of injured Reggie Wayne…answered the challenge of replacing Wayne by combining for 11 catches for 178 yards in two games as a starter…posted a career day in upset win of UCLA, tallying career-best numbers for receptions (8) and receiving yards (124)… caught his first collegiate touchdown pass in Rutgers game…connected with Kenny Kelly on a 30-yard scoring strike to close out the scoring against the Scarlet Knights…was also a valuable member of the Hurricane kick coverage units...awarded the Dale Melching Award for his outstanding leadership.
1997 (FRESHMAN): Earned first varsity letter seeing action in eight games...had five receptions for 66 yards...registered first career catch on a 16-yard pass from Ryan Clement in the first quarter at Boston College...added a season-long 22-yard grab on the same drive to set up an eight-yard Edgerrin James touchdown run...four of five receptions were for first downs...named most improved freshman following off-season conditioning program…missed regular-season finale vs. Syracuse to get married…wedding had been planned long before walking on to UM program.
HIGH SCHOOL: Stranahan...All-State and All-County performer at receiver...caught 25 passes for 700 yards and four touchdowns as a senior...also lettered in baseball...batted .492 with seven home runs and 30 stolen bases his senior season...coached by Rick Perry in football.
PERSONAL: Born 11/26/73...business management major...full name is Andre Omar King...recruited by Michigan and Tennessee...signed a National Letter of Intent with Michigan out of high school before opting to pursue Major League Baseball career…was selected in the second round of the 1993 Major League Baseball amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves...played with four different minor league clubs over five seasons...married Jessica Vogel on Nov. 29, 1997...son of Rudolph and Cynthia King.
