Moved to safety from wide receiver for his senior season, but distinguished himself throughout his career as one of the best special teams players in Miami history . . . An outstanding all-around athlete who came to Miami on a track scholarship . . . One of the finest decathletes in college track and field, Moser earned All-American honors at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships . . . Has bench pressed 335 pounds and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds during spring practice in 2000 . . . Owns the school record in the decathlon for the Miami track team and the BIG EAST record with 7,358 points at the 2000 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships to win his third consecutive BIG EAST decathlon title.
2000 (SEASON): Awarded Miami's Specialty Team Player of the Year Award by a vote of the coaching staff for his outstanding play for UM's kicking teams . . . Served as holder on field goals and conversion attempts, as a key member of the Hurricanes' punt coverage and punt protection teams and on kickoff returns and coverage squads . . . Returned two kickoffs for 36 yards (18.0 avg.) this season with returns of 21 and 15 yards . . . Also saw extensive action as a reserve safety, moving over from wide receiver . . . Recorded 18 tackles this season (16 solos) and had one quarterback hurry . . . Tied with Santana Moss for the team lead in points standings for special teams players compiled by the coaching staff.
1999 (JUNIOR): Started every game as Hurricane kick-off return man...recorded six returns for 145 yards...had a career-long 37 yard kickoff return at Virginia Tech...tallied nine special teams tackles, six solo on the season...blocked a punt against Florida A&M.
1998 (SOPHOMORE): Appeared in eight games...missed three contests after suffering a concussion in Virginia Tech game...caught three passes for 37 yards and one touchdown on the year...pass catches came against East Tennessee State, Pittsburgh and UCLA...made first collegiate catch in ETSU game...touchdown catch vs. UCLA from four yards out gave UM a 14-7 first-quarter lead...only kick return of season was a 19-yarder vs. Virginia Tech in which he sustained the concussion.
1997 (REDSHIRT): Spent the season on the scout team recovering from hamstring injury.
1996 (FRESHMAN): Spent year with scout team.
HIGH SCHOOL: North County...All-State wide receiver who caught 35 passes for 984 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior...also excelled at defensive back and as a kick/punt returner...registered 60 tackles (22 solo), four interceptions and one fumble recovery...returned 28 punts for 344 yards and three touchdowns...totaled 301 yards and one touchdown on kickoff returns...tallied 456 yards receiving and seven touchdowns on 19 catches as a junior...made 45 tackles (29 solo) and intercepted two passes as a free safety during junior season.
PERSONAL: Born 9/15/77...history major...full name is Aaron Paul Moser...was the National Junior Champion in decathlon and high school state champion in the pole vault, 110-meter high hurdles and as a member of various relay teams...son of Paul and Linda Moser.
