One of four true freshmen to play for Miami this season...a gifted receiver who moved to tight end during the season after starting out as a tight end when he reported to school in August...son of former San Diego Charger tight end Kellen Winslow, a member of the NFL Hall of Fame...has shown excellent progress this season as both a receiver and a special teams player on kickoff coverage...has made six tackles on special teams this fall (three unassisted) and one fumble recovery...caught two passes for 34 yards, both from reserve quarterback Derrick Crudup...first catch came in the victory at Pittsburgh, a 15-yarder in the fourth quarter...his other catch was a 19-yard reception against West Virginia.
HIGH SCHOOL: One of the nation's most highly regarded all-around players who played extensively at three different positions (receiver, tight end and defensive end) during his high school career...timed at 4.6 in the 40-yard dash...caught 45 passes for 800 yards and nine touchdowns in his senior season of 2000...had 32 catches for 600 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior in 1999...collected 115 tackles, eight sacks and five fumble recoveries, in addition to three interceptions and three forced fumbles as a senior on defense...named his Conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2000...also punted and kicked off on special teams as a senior...averaged 39 yards on 36 punts as a senior...one of his punts traveled 85 yards...made three of five field goal attempts, including a 35-yarder...was 10 of 12 on conversion kicks...made 32 tackles and 13 quarterback sacks with three fumble recoveries and one interception on defense in 1999...rated the No. 41 prospect, regardless of position, in California by SuperPrep...rated the No. 6 "Jumbo Athlete" in the nation by SuperPrep in the summer of 2000...an Honor Roll student...coached by Kevin Hedges at Scripps Ranch High.
PERSONAL: Nicknamed "Shash"...his father is NFL Hall of Fame tight end Kellen Winslow, a former San Diego Chargers and University of Missouri star who currently is a television sports analyst...an uncle, David Winslow, played college basketball at Northeast Missouri State and professionally in Australia...chose Miami over Michigan State, Washington, UCLA, Texas, Michigan, Southern California and Ohio State...son of Kellen Winslow and Katrina Ramsey.
