Coral Gables, Fla. - - University of Miami football fans will get to kick off the upcoming 2009 season with players, coaches and other UM fans Saturday, July 25, at BankUnited CanesFest from Noon to 2 p.m. at Land Shark Stadium. Admission is free.
BankUnited CanesFest will give fans a chance to interact with UM football players all over the stadium. The event features dunk tanks, face painting, balloon art, inflatable events and a locker room tour. Hurricanes merchandise and apparel will be on sale. Sebastian the Ibis and the University of Miami Cheerleaders will also be present.
Fans will also be able to pick up 2009 schedule cards. WQAM will broadcast live featuring "The Voice of the Miami Hurricanes" Joe Zagacki and Brian "The Beast" London.
Before BankUnited CanesFest gets underway at noon, UM will start a Select-A-Seat event at 10 a.m. If UM fans haven't purchased their 2009 season tickets yet or would like to relocate to a different section, they can do so Saturday morning. Available seats will be tagged. Once seats are selected, fans can stop by the checkout stands in the club level.
Following Select-A-Seat, fans can join the entire Miami football team inside Land Shark Stadium. Head coach Randy Shannon will address Hurricanes fans towards the end of BankUnited CanesFest. One of the highlights of BankUnited CanesFest will be the dunk tanks, where a select group of UM football players will be the targets.
