ATLANTA, Ga. (www.hurricanesports.com) - The ninth-ranked Miami Hurricanes football team wrapped up a solid week of practice a light practice Thursday afternoon in the Georgia Dome. The only event that remains now in the 2005 season is Friday's 7:30 p.m. Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl against the No. 10 LSU Tigers.
"Our week has been outstanding," head coach Larry Coker said. "The players are anxious to play, as I'm sure LSU's are. It should be a great football game."
Both Coker and LSU head coach Les Miles fielded questions from reporters at a joint press conference Thursday morning. Coker assured the media that motivating his team was not one of his key concerns heading into the contest.
"It's a lot like a boxing match," Coker said of Friday's game. "That bell is going to ring and you have to respond. We are playing a select, quality opponent. It's a quality game. That's what has motivated our players. They know what type of players LSU has. It's a nationally-televised game and there is a sellout crowd. Those are all motivating factors.
"The number one thing is what is here. If you have character people, they will want to represent themselves well."
The Hurricanes and Tigers can be seen live on ESPN with Brad Nessler and Bob Griese providing play-by-play and color analysis, and Lynn Swann reporting from the sidelines. Don Bailey and Joe Zagacki will call the game on WQAM 560 AM with updates from Brian London on the sideline. ESPN is also providing coverage of the game nationally on the radio.
