Bryan Getz enters his third season at the helm of the Miami men's tennis team and fifth season overall as a member of the UM coaching staff. Since taking over the head coaching duties in 2002, Getz has led the Hurricanes to an overall record of 27-16 in dual matches in two seasons.

In 2003-04, his second season as the Miami head coach, Getz's Hurricanes went 14-8 overall, finished third in the BIG EAST and wrapped up the season ranked 48th in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings. The 2004 dual match season was highlighted by an impressive nine-match win streak to open the season including wins over four nationally-ranked teams.

Under his direction in 2002-03, the team posted a 13-8 overall record and ended the season ranked No. 33 in the nation. Getz guided the team to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh consecutive season and claimed his first BIG EAST Championship title.

Getz began his coaching career at Miami in 2000 as an assistant under head coach Jay Berger. That season, the Hurricanes advanced to the Round of Sixteen of the 2001 NCAA Tournament in Athens, Ga. and concluded the season ranked 11th in the nation. Miami also took the BIG EAST Championship with a 4-2 win over conference-rival Notre Dame.

In 2001-02, his second season as assistant coach, the team posted a 12-10 record and reached the NCAA tournament.

Getz has also led several Hurricanes to individual accomplishments, including Todd Widom who garnered All-American honors in 2002 and 2003 and advanced to the NCAA Round of Sixteen in his freshman season and the NCAA Semifinals during his sophomore campaign.

Since joining the Hurricane coaching staff, five Hurricanes have drawn All-Conference Tournament selections with Josh Cohen and Eric Hechtman named to the 2003 All-BIG EAST Tournament Team.

Prior to coaching at Miami, Getz played collegiate tennis at Duke University and was a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference honor roll all four seasons with the Blue Devils. He went on to receive his degree in psychology and business from Duke in May of 1999.

Getz went to Duke as a standout high school player, was ranked the No. 1 player in singles and doubles in the state Florida in the Boys' 18 division and boasted a national ranking of No. 8 in singles and No. 6 in doubles. He was the Florida State Closed Champion in Boys' 18 and a finalist in the Boys' 18 National Indoor Championship.

A native of Coral Springs, Fla., he attended J. P. Taravella High School where the Florida Coaches Athletics Association named him Florida High School Player of the Year. A J. P. Taravella he was also named the Miami Herald and Sun-Sentinel All-Broward County Athlete of the Year.

Getz worked in marketing and merchandising at Abercrombie and Fitch corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio before coaching at Miami.
