Campbell is entering his fifth season as a member of the Hurricanes' coaching staff. Campbell has made a significant impact in his first four seasons guiding Hurricane athletes to nine BIG EAST individual and relay titles.
In his first season, Campbell guided Santana Moss to victories in the long jump and triple jump at the 2000 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Following the meet, Moss was honored as the BIG EAST Most Outstanding Field Performer becoming just the second Hurricane in school history (Horace Copeland, 1992) to earn the award.
Moss' winning leap of 7.98 meters (26-02.25) in the long jump automatically qualified him for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Durham, NC. Campbell also coached sprinter Daryl Jones to the 2000 BIG EAST 100-meter title.
In 2001 Campbell saw his troops dominate the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships. UM's 4x100-meter relay of Gus Martin, Shane Brown, Daryl Jones and Joseph Mbayen ran away from the field in winning the BIG EAST Championship with a meet record time of 40.40.
Miami also placed three runners in the finals of the 100-meters with Jones finishing second, Mbayen fourth and Brown fifth. In addition, Martin scored in the 200-meters finishing fourth.
Campbell also coached sprinter Daryl Jones to his second consecutive BIG EAST 100-meter title.
In 2002 Campbell coached Andre Johnson to BIG EAST Championships in the 60-meters and 100-meters marking just the second time in school-history a sprinter has won both BIG EAST titles in the same season.
Last season Campbell guided freshman Terrell Walden to the BIG EAST indoor 60-meter title, as well as the BIG EAST 100-meter title during the outdoor season. Campbell also coached the 4x100-meter relay to the BIG EAST Championship for the third time since 1999.
Campbell was a two-year letterwinner at the University of Miami (1993, 94) and won the BIG EAST Championship in the triple jump in 1994.
Campbell still holds the University of Miami triple jump record (51-05.75) and is a member of the school-record holding distance medley relay.
In 1996, Campbell transferred to California Baptist University in Riverside, CA where he went on to win two NAIA National Titles in the triple jump (1996, 97). In 1998, Campbell was hired as an assistant coach in charge of sprints and jumps at California Baptist. That season Campbell guided Eric Boykin to the NAIA National Title in the triple jump and Jimmy Devine to the NAIA Title in the long jump.
Prior to transferring to California Baptist, Campbell coached sprints and jumps for one season (1995) at Miami Northwestern High School.
Campbell earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Kinesiology from California Baptist University in 1999.
