GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of Miami men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up action at Friday's 2007 Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. with fourth and eighth-place finishes, respectively.

Led by junior Ryan Woodlee, who finished 20th overall in the 8,000-meter competition with a time of 26:24.22, the UM men finished fourth out of 20 teams with 107 combined points.

Senior Alex Paley placed 28th with a time of 26:41.68 while juniors Eric Miller (26:56.06) and Andrew Chuplis (26:57.09) placed 35th and 37th, respectively.

In the women's 5,000-meter race senior Delia Phlatts paced the Hurricanes, who placed eighth out of 19 teams with 223 points. Phlatts turned in a time of 19:42.59 to finish 29th overall.

Freshman Caitlin Knapp took 35th place in her first competition as a Hurricane, crossing with a time of 20:02.09.

The UM men's and women's cross country teams return to action Sept. 22, traveling to Athens, Ga. to take part in the Bulldog Stampede hosted by the University of Georgia.
