CORAL GABLES - The University of Miami women's basketball team will open its 2009 season against the Barry University Bucaneers in an exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the BankUnited Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The 2009-10 Hurricanes feature rising sophomore Shenise Johnson. The Henrietta, N.Y. native won a gold medal with the U19 USA National Team in Bangkok, Thailand over the summer and was named to the ACC All-Freshmen team for her efforts during her rookie campaign.

The exhibition versus Barry will be the first opportunity to see the five newcomers on this season's roster. Freshmen Lee Anna Osei (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), Hannah Shaw (Nottingham, England), Stefanie Yderstrom (Ostertalje, Sweden), Shanel Williams (Chesapeake, Va.) and 2009 McDonald's All-American Morgan Stroman (Hopkins, S.C.) will all be making their collegiate debuts.

The 'Canes open their regular season on the road against UC Riverside on Friday, Nov. 13. The 2009-10 home opener will be Wednesday, Nov. 18 against Bethune-Cookman at the BankUnited Center at 7 p.m.
