CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The doubles team from the University of Miami, junior Laura Vallverdu and sophomore Michaela Kissell, ended their consolation back draw run Saturday afternoon with a rarely seen three-set loss to USC's Gabriela Niculescu and Maria Sanchez, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.

Kissell and Vallverdu, the 15th-ranked doubles duo in the nation, matched up against a newly-formed doubles team from the University of Southern California. Niculescu's normal partner, Amanda Fink, was unable to join her in the doubles matches.

The UM duo was unable to sustain their momentum from yesterday's win as they were defeated in a three-set doubles match. Vallverdu and Kissell drop to 3-3 on the fall season in doubles play.
