Debbie Ferguson is in her third season as a volunteer assistant at the University of Miami. Ferguson, a two-time Olympic medalist, brings a wealth of international experience to the Hurricanes.

This summer she won the bronze medal in the 200-meters and reached the 100-meter final at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. In 2000 she anchored the Bahamas to the.gold medal in the 4x100-meter relay at the Olympic games in Sydney.

Ferguson posted one of the best season's of her career in 2002 winning gold medals in the 100-meters, 200-meters and 4x100-meter relay at the Commonwealth Games, setting meet records in all three events, and winning championships in the 200-meters and 4x100-meter relay at the 2002 World Cup.

She is currently ranked No. 2 in the world in the 200-meters and No. 7 in the world in the 100-meters by the IAAF. In 2001 she won ten events including a gold medal in the 200-meters at the Goodwill Games. Ferguson is coached by UM head coach Amy Deem.
