Blacksburg, Va. - The University of Miami women's track and field team finished the two-day Virginia Tech Elite at the Rector Field House on the campus of Virginia Tech, with junior All-American Krista Simkins taking home another win.

After winning the 400-meter dash yesterday with the third fastest time in the NCAA this year, Simkins came back today reaching a provisional mark and winning the 200-meters with a time of 23.74.

"Krista competed hard for us all weekend, I am very impressed with her achievements," said head coach Amy Deem.

Simkins was also part of the 4X400 relay team that finished second with a time of 3:38.46.  The other members of the team were freshmen Takecia and Tameka Jameson and junior All-American Ena Leufroy.

Sophomore Deandra Doyley is showing improvement every week as she leapt to a sixth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.75m.

"We have set up ourselves very well with our performance this weekend," added Deem.  "I think we showed improvement and we need to continue to improve next week.  We competed hard, but I want to see our 4X400 team and individuals run smarter as we get ready for the ACC and NCAA Championships.

The Hurricanes have one more opportunity to jockey for seeding in the ACC Championships as they travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Tyson Invitational
