FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Miami's Krista Simkins ran the fastest time in the NCAA this year in the indoor 400-meter dash at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

The junior All-American ran a time of 51.95, winning her preliminary heat, qualifying for tomorrows 8:05 p.m. final.  With that time, Simkins broke the school record in the event passing Dominique Darden, who set the mark at the 2006 National Championships.

Just two weeks ago Simkins won the 200 and 400-meter dashes at the ACC Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C.

As a freshman in 2006, Simkins was part of the 4X400 relay team that earned All-America honors.

Senior Khadija Talley competed in the weight throw where she placed 15th with a toss of 18.72m (61-05.00).
