EUGENE, Ore. Former Miami Hurricane Lauryn Williams placed third in the 100-meter dash at the U.S. Olympic Trials, Saturday evening at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field, solidifying her spot on the U.S. Olympic Team. 

 

With a time of 10.90 seconds, Williams finished behind Muna Lee and Torri Edwards in the finals, allowing the 2005 World Champion to appear on her second U.S. Olympic Team.

 

Earlier in the day, Williams earned her spot in the finals with a fifth-place finish (10.92) in the semifinal heat.

 

Williams is not finished at the trials as she will be running in the 200-meters as well.  The qualifying round is set to begin Friday, July 4 at 7:20 p.m.


 

 

 

Another former Hurricane was unable to advance to the 400-meter hurdles final, as Dominique Darden finished 12th with a time of 56.54.  Darden needed to finish in the top eight to advance.

 

Khadija Talley will be competing in Sunday’s discus final beginning at 3:15 p.m.  She advanced to the finals with a qualifying mark of 52.80m on Friday.
