Ariell Cooke is in her first year as a student assistant coach for the University of Miami volleyball program. Cooke played under head coach Nicole Lantagne Welch four years (2007-10) as a middle blocker. In her final two seasons, Cooke was a member of the NCAA Tournament participant Hurricanes that advanced to the Gainesville [Fla.] and Bloomington [Ind.] Regionals in 2009 and 2010.
Cooke left the University of Miami program ranked in the top-10 in two categories for the Canes. She ended her playing career seventh all-time in hitting percentage, carrying a .265 clip across four years. She is also ranked eighth all-time in solo blocks (28). As a senior in the NCAA Tournament match at Indiana, Cooke registered 12 kills, five digs and five assisted blocks.
Ariell Cooke is the daughter of Keith and Denise Cooke, and she also has a sister, Nicole Humphreys. She is a native of Oakland, Calif., majored in Architecture at UM and attended Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland prior to arriving at UMiami.
